Not to mention that the current year differs between some of these calendars too, so we might not be counting down even towards the same year, or decade, or century, or millennium, and some clocks don't even show the seconds...

Yeah but people will party no matter what.The reason for said partying is only there as decoration.And i am pretty sure the countdown is a good one.
