On finishing Star Fox

Posted by Bertn1991 - 4 days ago

I played the original Star Fox a lot as a kid on my Super Nintendo but could never get very far. I just wasn't the most patient kid. If I kept losing, I'd play something else. I've been playing the excellent Star Fox 64 remake lately, and it made me want to play some of the older games, so I fired up old Star Fox. And you know, it holds up. It's still a fun time, but goodness it is hard. They're generous enough with lives and continues, but everything does so much damage. A mission can fall apart in seconds if you take a few hits or, god forbid, you bump into something. It's like these ships are made of papier-mache. But it's pretty short and can be done without too much fuss. It took a couple game overs, but I finally was able to finish it. But yeah, it's still a fun game, and the low frame rates don't really hinder the experience for me, as it might for others. Also, the visuals are just so charming, and oh gosh the music is top shelf. Good stuff.

I don't think I will ever beat the third route, though >.<
