Long story short, I was attacked by a dog recently. Rabies is extremely rare in the U.S., but if you get it and don't do anything, you will die, so a nurse practitioner recommended I get the vaccine just to be safe. It's a pretty straightforward procedure. Get a few shots, come back a handful of times over the next few weeks for followup doses, and you're good to go. Easy~

Yeah, I don't think so. I make 4-figures in a year so I'm not exactly swimming in money. I'm uninsured of course. They're not getting anything out of me. I will not be supporting this repugnant, immoral, human rights disaster scam of a healthcare system. I'm not paying. Fight me.

It's understandable you'll get set beck a few hundred bucks, for the siringes, the stuff in em, and the personell delivering it and applying it.

But over 15K, that's just insane.

If you tell them to itemize your bill they sometimes do a magic trick where the whole thing disappears because they don't want to admit they charged you $100 for a bandaid (and fifty more for putting it on)

Thank you. Yeah, it really is crazy. I've had people from India tell me the same vaccine is the equivalent of $4 there. Granted, I'm also being charged for service, but it's still preposterous how much they expect me to pay.

Just… I just wish you the best, despite the common situation we are in rigjt now. And even right here in this country of mine, even basic healthcare services are just a bit too above the common family income, plus not much funds are given for better, more accessible hospitals and local health centers.

Okay. So IF the Rabies Virus is almost non-existent within America, With almost every house pet getting vaccinated, THEN WHY THE HELL is the Vaccine for humans so expensive!? The Bill I am seeing here is just pure evil.

But now I am honestly worried that my good internet friend might end up going to jail for a few months for not paying an emergency room bill!
