Hmm, not too shabby...

I liked it, I really did. I listened a couple of times. When I started, I thought it sounded a bit typical of the genre, but as it went on I really began to like it. I think it has its own special charm about it that makes it stand out. While it's not the most grandiose or ambitious musical piece ever written, it doesn't have to be. For what it is, I think it's great. The synths work well and sound good, the drums are nice and punchy, and overall the piece is simply well put together in my opinion. I guess my only criticism is the ending. I think this would've worked better as a loop. Other than that, it's a perfectly fine tune to listen to :-)

Very nice work. Added to favorites <3

Aww, thanks for your kind and critical feedback. Honestly, I tried making something that would stand out, and not really try to "match" the genre, so your feedback made me know I accomplished my goal!

Thanks once again :D

Goodness, you've done it again!

So much respect for you right now. You've taken what was an okay tune and made it a great one. What can I say? You worked your FlipFlop 90s magic and did another fantastic arrangement. It's got that crisp, cool Sega aesthetic definitely fitting for a cutesy song like "Ice Water." The choice of instruments is great and very fitting for a song like this, and the changes you made with your version are welcomed as well. All in all, stellar stuff, man. I loved hearing it.

Er, not to get too personal or anything, but I had a bit of a crumby day, and listening to this cheered me up tremendously. Thanks for making my day a little brighter :-)

This is the music that plays when skeletons are dancing!

But really, this'd be the perfect tune for dancin' to. It's got excellent rythm, good melodies, and of course it's got a Halloween sorta vibe to it that I like very much. What it really makes me think of is the music from The Adams Family game on SNES. It's spooky-dooky! But in all allness, it's an excellent piece, well-deserving of a four-star rating.

Fantastic work :-)

Drewpy responds:

Wow, thanks! I'm super happy it turned out alright because the track is basically the result of me losing a bet to my friend and being forced to write this song on Halloween. Thanks again for the review, they're really good for my morale :D

Well this is fairly nice :-)

I enjoyed this, I really did. Your playing is pretty good: good flow, good chords, good progression; it's nice. I listened twice going on thrice. I guess the playing can be a tad sloppy at times, and some parts are very quiet, but other than those minor gripes, I thoroughly enjoy your piece, really truly. Those FluidR3_GM soundfonts brought back so many nice memories. That used to be my go to font right there.

Well-done. I've got a song with same title of this if you wanna check it out some time. Anyways, I like your song very much. Have a great day :-)

CGA-999 responds:

Thank you. Reviews like this are what keep my playing. When I get feedback like this, it is very much appreciated. Thank you so much!

I must, the title fits the song very well.

This reminds of Bayou Boogie from Donkey Kong Country 2. Definitely look if up sometime. To borrow your own words, it has a "muggy, humid" sorta sound. I like this, it's very simply, but nice. Definitely good background music. I guess my only complaint is that it is very repetitive. Not really a bad thing for this type of song I suppose, but whatevv, I like it regardless!

So in short, it doesn't do TOO much, but what's there is nice. Well-done :-)

Pink-Ninja responds:

Thanks very much for taking the time to review, it's an old track and mainly meant to be used as a loop hence why it's repetitive. I'm hoping to have some better quality audio out this year.

Alright, alright, I'm feeling this. Firstly, the title fits very well. The song itself conjures up images of terrible armored beasts with lasers and no week spots. You got no potions left, you haven't saved in an hour, your heart's beating a mile a minute. It's got a sinister, punchy sound to it that lets you know, yeah, some pretty menacing stuff's about to transpire, so get your head in the game. It's an excellent song I must say. It brought back lots of good memories. Much respect to you.

5/5

Thanks man. I really like this one myself too! Subscribe for more!

I believe in being brutally honest with reviews so let's delve right in!!

Firstly, the title fits well. It's happy, bright and cheerful. I guess all those words all kinda mean the same thing, but whatevs. I like the sound. It made me smile I'll admit, but it can be a little grating. It's really short, but still seems drawn out and doesn't really do much. Regardless, I like your style, so I give you 3 stars. Three stars is good by the way. Some people get angry when they get 3 stars and I don't know why. Anyways, good job :-)

3/5

Hallow responds:

I'm glad you think the title fits. I'm terrible with creative titles. :P
Speaking of the grating, I'm about to upload a new version which is a little quieter - if that's the problem, great, if it's just the synth, sorry, I can't open it again because demo versions are terrible. :v
I'm fine with the three stars. Five implies excellence, so I'm nowhere near that with this short, repetitive (and somewhat drawn out) little thing.

I believe in being brutally honest with reviews so let's jump right in! Here's my honest take-away...

You're right, definitely a headphones kinda song. That's some mean bass right there (I mean that in a good way of course.) I did found it hard to hear the bass at times, but this was solved by turning the volume WAY up. Nothing wrong with that really, it's actually a very good song to listen to at a high volume. The other instruments sound good, some nice synths in there. The song has a smooth, haunting sound to it, and I'm sure that's what you were going for based on the tags. It has a nice Parasite Eve sort of vibe (PS1 game.) It'd be a great ambient piece for a survival horror game like that. Another thing I'll touch on are the fantastically woven-in sound effects. Really. hats off to you, because they fit absolutely perfectly!

With all that said, I give your song a rare 5-star rating. I don't have any criticisms big enough to give it anything less. I really enjoyed it! :-)

Being brutally honest is one of the best styles of reviews in my book. :P

I'll start my response by saying thank you very much. I highly appreciate it and quite frankly wish more people put as much thought/effort into reviewing as you have!
The bass is not a hard fix at all - maybe a slight bass boost and additional EQ could solve that problem easily. I do agree with you though, nothing wrong with turning the volume WAY up! Smooth and haunting is pretty much the theme I was looking to make with this song, so you hit it right on the nail. I'm really happy you enjoyed it because I really enjoyed making it. I don't think I've ever played Parasite Eve, going to have to go check it out sometime!

If reviews had a rating system I'd give you a 5/5 as well!
Thank you!!

Oh man, that's killer. That's some sinister stuff right there. Reminds of stuff me and cousin used to make on Noteworthy Composer back in the day, The sound quality of your instruments is much better than what we had, that's for sure. I'm really into this. That's some straight up Mario 64 Bower music if I ever heard any. I am a fan. I saw this on the Review for Review thread and thought I'd check it out. I won't post anything there though, that way you get another review as well. Have a good one ;-)

AEOK responds:

Word. Thanks for the review, much appreciated.

Goodness, I've been listening to this for like 20 minutes now. It's pretty fantastic I must admit, great drawing music. From a fellow composer, nicely done :-)

Troisnyx responds:

Thank you~
